Here is the latest Stoke Poges and Wexham neighbourhood update from Neighbourhood Specialist Officer PC Lou Sharples and Police Community Support Officers Kam Benawra and Steven Beck.
Local Priorities
Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB)
(noisy neighbours, abandoned cars, vandalism, graffiti, litter and intimidating groups).
With the summer holidays rapidly approaching, the neighbourhood policing team is working with partner agencies to ensure a peaceful time. Young people who have previously been involved in or have been identified as likely to be involved in anti-social behaviour, are being approached together with their parents, to inform them that any reports of ASB involving themselves will not be tolerated and will be dealt with accordingly. We rely on information from members of the community to enable us to deal with any incidents efficiently and effectively, so please contact us with any information that you feel is important.
Good news
The Neighbourhood Action Group (NAG) for Stoke Poges and Wexham has been looking ahead to the summer period and is pleased to announce that we have been successful in our bid to obtain funding for a Summer Youth Project which will be held at the Stoke Poges School on Rogers Lane. This is aimed at providing young people specifically from the Stoke Poges and Wexham Parishes with positive and exciting activities for four days in August 2010 (19th, 20th, 23rd, 24th). Further information about this exciting project will be provided over the coming weeks.
PCSO Steven Beck in conjunction with the local Parish Council has organised a football match between the police and local young people from the Stoke Poges and Wexham area. This will be taking place on Saturday 3rd July at 1200 at Bells Hill Recreation ground in Stoke Poges. He would like to invite any young people aged 16 and over who are interested in playing; contact him on 08458 505505 or by email (as below). Local residents are invited to attend and cheer on their favourite team!
Speeding
We continue to monitor this problem in conjunction with our Roads Policing department and speed enforcement events have been organised for coming months – speeding motorists beware!
Burglary
This is a major priority for Thames Valley Police, as well as locally with the neighbourhood policing team. We are working hard to reduce burglary in the Stoke Poges and Wexham areas and are encouraged by a significant reduction in offences over the past year. We would like to remind residents to be vigilant over the summer months – don’t make life easy for criminals by leaving properties insecure or valuables on display. If you would like any crime prevention advice, please feel free to contact us by phone, e-mail or in person while we are on patrol or at one of our ‘Have Your Say’ meetings.
Local Crime Information
If you would like to access information about crime statistics, please visit the Thames Valley Police website (www.thamesvalley.police.uk) where you will be able to view local crime maps.
A large automatic number plate recognition (ANPR) operation took place last week (Op Triliogy). This was carried out in partnership with the Metropolitan Police and was aimed at disrupting criminals using roads in the Thames Valley area. It was a huge success with numerous arrests for, drugs, immigration and driving-related offences. 23 vehicles were seized by Police for having no insurance and a number of fines were issued for various other driving offences.
Crime Reduction
PCSO Kam Benawra would like to remind residents of two crime reduction events that will be taking place in July 2010. This is a great opportunity to meet the local neighbourhood policing team, who will be available to answer any questions, along with the Community Safety Team (South Bucks District Council) and representatives from Buckinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service.
12/07/10 – St Andrews Church, Stoke Poges (1400 onwards)
31/07/10 – Withycroft, George Green (1400-1600)
